Pride leads to downfall, distorting our relationship with God and others. Recognizing its dangers is essential to living a humble life.
The Bible doesn’t just caution us about pride—it warns us repeatedly that it is a destructive force.
📖 “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” – Proverbs 16:18
Pride can mask itself in many ways: self-righteousness, self-reliance, comparison, the need to be right, or the refusal to repent. It’s sneaky… and sometimes even praised by the world as confidence or ambition. But God sees through it.
Pride makes us trust in ourselves instead of depending on the Lord. It hardens our hearts and blinds us to truth. It even keeps us from loving others well because it centers everything around us.
📖 “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” – James 4:6
Jesus, the King of Kings, humbled Himself as a servant. He washed feet. He forgave while hanging on the cross. He invites us into that same humility… not to tear us down, but to free us from the bondage of pride and raise us up in His grace.
⍰ So here’s the question:
Is there any pride in your heart that God is asking you to lay down today?
Ask Him to show you gently. And let His Spirit help you walk in humility, love, and grace.
Because in God’s Kingdom, the way up… is down.
🕊️ “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” – James 4:10
