What Giant Are You Allowing to Look Bigger Than God?
🎥 Watch the full LifeTALK discussion here: https://youtu.be/Qb4GZEqgTbA
This morning during our LifeTALK devotional on TikTok, we talked about a question that every believer will eventually face:
What do I do when I’m surrounded by giant problems?
The devotional centered around the story of David and Goliath, but what stood out to me was the reminder that the story is really about reality versus distortion.
The reality was that God had already given promises to His people.
The distortion was that Goliath appeared bigger than God’s promises.
That same battle continues today.
Most of us aren’t facing a giant warrior standing in a valley, but we are facing giants.
Maybe your giant is fear.
Maybe it’s anxiety.
Maybe it’s depression.
Maybe it’s financial pressure.
Maybe it’s addiction, sickness, loneliness, guilt, shame, or uncertainty about the future.
Whatever giant you’re facing, the enemy wants it to appear larger than God’s promises.
During the live, I challenged everyone with a simple question:
What are you focusing on more — the giant or God?
Because whatever we focus on tends to grow in our minds.
Fear magnifies problems.
Faith magnifies God.
A Personal Giant We’re Facing
During the live, I shared a little bit about a giant Misty and I are currently facing.
As many of you know, we own UnityREEL, a wedding photography and videography company based in Texas.
The wedding industry has natural seasons.
There are busy seasons and slower seasons.
Right now we’re walking through one of those quieter seasons where bookings are slower and financial pressures can feel very real.
The giant is real.
The bills are real.
The uncertainty can feel real.
But we’ve also seen God’s faithfulness over and over again.
He has provided every step of the way.
He has opened doors we never could have opened ourselves.
He has brought the right couples, clients, opportunities, and relationships into our lives at exactly the right time.
So while the giant may be standing in front of us, we’ve learned not to stare at the giant.
We choose to focus on the God who has never failed us.
As I shared on the live:
The giant may be real, but our God is greater.
That doesn’t mean we ignore reality.
It means we interpret reality through the lens of faith rather than fear.
The Challenge From Today’s LifeTALK
I want to leave you with the same challenge I shared during the live:
Ask yourself:
What giant have I been focusing on more than God?
Identify it.
Name it.
Bring it before the Lord.
Pray about it.
Speak God's TRUTH over it.
Surrender it.
Trust Him with it.
And remember:
Don’t let the size of your giant reduce your awareness of the size of your God.
Overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us.
(Romans 8:37)
